Jammu, March 05 (KNO) : A team of Election Commission of India headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora Tuesday met representatives of several political parties for the second straight day in Jammu and Kashmir to discuss the conduct of polls here.
The ECI team is on a two-day visit to JK and convened meeting with political parties to discuss the conduct of election in the state. Today, the ECI team also met with senior police and Deputy Commissioners to assess the Jammu and Kashmir situation ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Arora alongwith two poll commissioners, Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra met representatives from seven national and three regional parties here and listened to their suggestions regarding elections. Arora and the poll team also met 10 DCs and senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of Jammu division, besides various nodal officers to get their views on elections to be held.
Ahead of a press conference scheduled before they leave for Delhi, the Commission also met Chief Secretary, B.V.R. Subrahmanyam and Director General of Police Dilbag Singh to get appraisal of an overall on the security and deployments of additional Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel for smooth conduct of the elections.(KNO)
